Vitamin A & Lutein for Healthy Vision
Vitamin A has a long-established role with supporting healthy vision. Some research has also suggested that lutein—a natural substance found in food, and in the same family of compounds as beta-carotene—may play a similar role. In fact, lutein is naturally found in a region of the eye called the retina. A new, 4-year, double-blind study published in the Archives of Ophthalmology suggests that a combination of vitamin A and lutein given to 225 people, provide support for healthy functioning of the retina. This new study lends support to existing research demonstrating the contribution that vitamin A and lutein make to supporting healthy vision.
