B Vitamins & Heart Health

Is there a relationship between B vitamins and heart health? Recent Japanese research published in an American Heart Association journal, suggests that there is. Researchers tracked the food intake of 23,119 men and 35,611 women. The results of a 14-year follow-up demonstrated that dietary intake of folate (also known as folic acid) and vitamin B6 were associated with healthy heart function, healthy blood vessel function in the brain, and total cardiovascular health. Natural sources of B vitamins include vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes, fish, whole grains and fortified cereals.
