Brown Sugar-Broiled Bananas
These broiled bananas would be delicious as part of a brunch. Or serve them for dessert, topped with a scoop of low-fat frozen yogurt.
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon allspice
4 bananas (about 6 ounces each), halved lengthwise
- Preheat the broiler. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, lime juice, nutmeg, and allspice until smooth.
- Spray a broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place the bananas, cut-side up, on the broiler pan. Brush with half of the brown sugar mixture. Broil 4 to 6 inches from the heat for 3 minutes.
- Brush with the remaining brown sugar mixture and broil until the bananas are soft and lightly colored, about 2 minutes.
